:.. Private Sector Participation
– Institutional development
Since
1995 to-date, many studies and missions have been accomplished
on private sector participation in several environmental
and infrastructure fields for multilateral institutions
(World Bank, USAID, GTZ) and national public agencies (ONAS,
ANPE, CITET, etc). The tasks include mainly feasibility
studies, market studies, diagnosis and assessment, projects
appraisal, tender documents preparation, capacity building,
etc.
The following are among the missions
achieved
:

Participation in the elaboration of the Tunisia Private
Participation in Infrastructure (PPI) strategy (water and
sanitation and solid waste sectors) – World Bank 2002-
2003
• Feasibility studies and tender
documents preparation for contracting O&M of sanitation
infrastructures to private sector in several Tunisian cities
(1330 Km sewers networks, 96 pumping stations, 17 treatment
plants) (2001-2002)
• Updating the strategy for private
sector participation in urban sanitation (ONAS 2001 –2002)
• Contribution to the GTZ Program
for the Environment definition, Current situation assessment
for the private sector participation in environmental activities
in Tunisia, Roundtable with private operators in sanitation
(2002 –2004)
• Implementation of several activities
related to the solid waste and liquid waste components of
the Private Participation in Environmental Services (PPES)
Program (USAID) (1995-1997)
• Evaluation of the 1rst pilot project
of contracting out to private sector sewers O&M
• Contribution to the institutional
study on production and financing of Urban Public Infrastructures
and Services (water, sanitation, urban drainage, power,
gas and telephone) 1994 - 1995
